Christmas tree lighting at Legacy Village

For those of you looking for fun things to do in Cleveland (as I usually am), Legacy is having their tree lighting ceremony tonight at 7pm. There are usually a ton of people there, so get there early for good parking!

I have also signed up for the Cleveland Mom blog and it’s great! She has loads of activities for the holiday season posted on her site – including the rebirth of some old favorites (Bruce the Spruce, the Twigby Shop, etc.). So check out her site for fun things to do!

University Circle Holiday CircleFest

I admit, I have been HORRIBLE about posting!  Things have been crazy at the office (which I am happy about considering this economy…) and I’ve had to travel overseas which has made it tough to commit to writing.  I promise to make more of an effort!
Being a Case alum, I receive event information from time to time – but this one looks really fun and so I thought I’d put it out there in case anyone was looking for fun, holiday activities to do with the family.

Also, here is a GREAT site for fun things to do in Cleveland 🙂 She’s a Cleveland mom too!

Great playground in Cleveland

If you’re looking for an AWESOME playground for your kids, check out Preston’s Hope.  It’s HUGE and has lots of different activities for kids of all ages.  Madeline just started walking and she absolutely loved it!  Loads of slides, sandboxes, and swings.  There’s also a little “town” with a bank and gym!  So cool!

Fundraising Event for Local Restaurant Owner, July 28th

This Monday, July 28th, there is a fund raising event at Sarava, Shaker Square to help raise money for Annie Chiu. Annie owns the Sun Luck Garden and has to have open heart surgery. She is going to have to close her restaurant for 2 months while in recovery. The fund raiser is to help her and her family while the restaurant is closed.

The event sounds pretty cool – it’s $50 and gets you in to taste food from a variety of Cleveland’s own, most popular chefs. Cash bar and silent auction.

Fun Things to Do in Cleveland – July & August 2008

Since starting this group, I’ve found myself looking for a website with postings of fun family-friendly events for people to do on the weekends with little success. Most of what’s out there is either “going out” related (ie. bars, social events, etc.) or generic (zoo, botanical gardens, etc.). OR, the things that ARE going on are so difficult to find that you have to be “in the know” to even know they’re happening.

So, I’ve decided to post things I hear about on this web site…

Here’s what’s going on over the next few weeks:

Every Saturday morning: Farmer’s Markets in Shaker Square & in Downtown Hudson

July 25th: Aaron Sanchez (competed against Mike Symon to be the next Iron Chef) doing a live cooking demo in front of Zocalo.

July 24th – 27th: Little Italy’s Christmas in July

July 25th – 27th: Ingenuity Fest

July 26th & 27th: Christmas in July at The Christmas Story House

August 2nd: Lakewood Arts Fest, 10am – 6pm

August 9th: Great Lakes Burning River Fest, Nautica Entertainment Complex (stuff for kids too, don’t worry!)

August 10th: Cedar-Fairmount Summer Festival and Art Show, 12-4 pm

August 14-17th: Little Italy’s Feast of the Assumption (“The Feast”)

August 24th, 11am – 6pm: Walk & Roll Cleveland

Aaron Sanchez doing live demo, July 25th at 5pm

If any of you watch The Food Network, you probably know who Aaron Sanchez is. He was one of the chefs competing against Michael Symon to be the Next Iron Chef. As you know, he didn’t win (Symon did!!) but he is such a great guy that he has come to Cleveland to help one of the struggling (new, but bad food) restaurants on E. 4th, Zocalo. I’ve never been, and now that he’s helped them with their menu (he’s not cooking it though) I defninitely want to try it out.

Anyway, he’s coming to Cleveland on Friday, July 25th to do a live demo outside of the restaurant! How cool! I haven’t been able to find any information on this, other than in this article. I’ll pass along more info if I find it.
